WP RSS Aggregator

WP RSS Aggregator helps you create a feed reader on your WordPress site. It works in a similar fashion to RSS readers like for example Netvibes.

You can add any number of feeds through an administration panel, the plugin will then pull all the feeds from these sites, merge them and sort them by date.

The output will be organised under the following headings

  • Today
  • Yesterday
  • More than 2 days ago

The plugin uses SimplePie for the feed operations. The actual news feeds are not stored in your databases but only cached for faster response times.
You can call the function from within the theme or even use a shortcode with parameters.

    Hi,
I cannot get your plugin to work. The page just says [wp-rss-aggregator] instead of showing the feeds. Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Jonathan

  2. Jonathan says:

    Hi again,
Didn’t realise that needed to use parameters with the code.
    [wp_rss_aggregator date_before='' date_after=''] is working .

    Thanks, great work,
    Jonathan

  3. Dalibor says:

I wonder if there is a possibility to use different RSS feeds on different pages on the site? Thank you for your response.

    Welcome Jonathan

At the moment no, I’m considering for the next update, thanks for the suggestion.

  6. Dalibor says:

Here are a few suggestions for the next update, which would be helpful to me and I believe to other users:
    - allow choosing the elements that we want to show in the feed (title, description, source …)
    - allow choosing age of links that we want to show (today, yesterday, two days ago …)

Thanks again, look forward to the update.

I am building a news page with your plugin and it it great! Thank you for publishing it. I do have one strange problem, though. Instead of formating the 2 heads WordPress is showing the HTML code, e.g.
    Today
    How can I fix this?
    Thanks,
    Brian

    Thanks will keep in mind.

    Hi!

Can’t get the plugin to work. What should I write on the page?

    I’ve been writing: [wp-rss-aggregator]

  10. Jean Galea says: (Author)

That’s what you should write, make sure it’s activated, you’ve entered some feeds in the settings.

  11. Jean Galea says: (Author)

    [wp_rss_aggregator] Underscored not dashes.

The colourbox does not seem to work. Is there a fix, or a way to disable and open in new window instead?

  14. Jean Galea says: (Author)

Option coming in the next version.

  15. Ben says:

Great work! Is the plugin capable of only displaying the most recent posts? (i.e. today and yesterday)

  16. Jean Galea says: (Author)

Thanks. Yes it displays the recent posts, check out the example on wpmayor.com for a better idea.

  17. Barry says:

The feeds display just fine. However, clicking on the link brings up the article in a box that can be difficult to read. Is there a way of making the link open in a new tab or window? I don’t mind people seeing the current preview and then opening the link in a new tab either.

  18. Jean Galea says: (Author)

    Coming in the next update.

  19. Barry says:

Thanks Jean. When will that be?

  20. Jean Galea says: (Author)

I’m hoping to find some time to work on it in April.

  21. Juerg says:

Is there any way to place it into a sidebar widget? Thanks.

  22. Jean Galea says: (Author)

Coming in next version most probably.

  23. Mark says:

Yup, need it for sidebar. Otherwise it’s super.

  24. Rich says:

Is there a manual? Can I limit the number of posts?

  25. Jean Galea says: (Author)

Instructions are on this page, limiting of posts is coming in the next version.

  26. Dennis says:

Great Jean! But when is the next release, sir? =)
