Virtual Business Cards (vCard)
We have recently launched our vCard creation service, enabling you to have your very own personalised vCard and domain for only 40 Euro.
What is a vCard?
vCard is a file format standard for electronic business cards. vCards are often attached to e-mail messages, but can be exchanged in other ways, such as on the World Wide Web. They can contain name and address information, phone numbers, URLs, logos, photographs, and even audio clips.
It cane be thought of as a normal business card with the added bonuses of it being dynamic, instantly downloadable and very easy to share without any cost. You can update it from time to time with new information and images, making it much more versatile than your traditional business card.
The example above shows a vCard I have created for myself. As an alternative to this blog, it serves as a quick bite-sized introduction to myself and the services I offer. It also includes contact details and links to my various social profiles. Such vCards are also useful for small businesses such as hair stylists, or professionals like interior designers. They can also be used to attractively showcase examples of your work through photos that enlarge nicely when clicked upon.
Want a vCard or mini-site?
Contact me now and I’ll show you how I can help you promote your services through the use of a vCard or mini-site for yourself or your business.

New website for The Arches restaurant
The Arches restaurant
The Arches restaurant in Mellieha is one of Malta’s best havens for fine dining lovers. Silver service, tantalizing plates, glowing press reviews and a rich interior decor have all been factors in this restaurant’s rise to fame. The fact that personalities such as Claudio Baglioni, Gianluca Pessotto, Riccardo Muti, Michael Bolton and many others have chosen The Arches as their preferred dining place while visiting Malta speaks volumes about the status of this restaurant. The management of the The Arches have recently decided to continue building on their success by revamping the restaurant’s website.
Why was the website needed?
A website is a natural extension of the physical presence of a restaurant, giving online users a taste of what they can expect when visiting the place. The standard Menu and Wine List are thus available online together with seasonal menus such as those for Festive Staff Parties or Christmas Day Lunch.
Through the website The Arches can also build its relationship with its esteemed clientele through the Latest News and Newsletter facilities. A link to the Facebook page is also provided for those wishing to show and share their appreciation with their friends on this social network. Practical information such as the restaurant’s contact numbers and opening hours are of course essential and thus included on the Home page itself. The new website also gives users the facility to make a reservation and contact the restaurant through easy to use forms. Those wishing to learn more about the restaurant can view the long list of awards The Arches has won along the years, as well as browsing through the photo gallery to have a look at the restaurant and check out the famous personalities who have visited.
How was the website built?
As a firm believer in open source technology, I have built this website using Wordpress, an extremely popular blogging and CMS platform which is used by thousands of businesses and individuals worldwide. In the hands of an internet expert Wordpress can cater for practically any type of online presence needed, and the huge community of users and developers ensures that there will never be a case of vendor lockdown where you always need to depend on the original creator of the website for updates or improvements to the site.
The site features a fully XHTML and CSS powered design for fast loading times and clean standards-compliant code, and has been tested on all major internet browsers. A Flash animation was used to inject life into the website’s header which showcases some of the best photos of The Arches together with the restaurant’s logo. The website is also linked to an email marketing system which has excellent features for contact list management and newsletter design, plus the advantage of knowing who opened the email newsletter and what links they clicked on.
Furthermore the website includes a link to a Facebook page which complements the website to maximise the power of social networks in attracting new visitors and creating community buzz. Google Analytics is being used to track the number of visitors to the site together with the source of these visitors, and these analytics prove the importance of linking a website to social networking communities such as Facebook.
Developer-Client Experience
This is what Mr David Farrugia had to say about his experience in using our website development services:
“Jean Galea managed to create a high quality and elegant website which is in line with the restaurant’s philosophy of offering the best service and ambience to the most discerning of guests. The website’s appearance is uncluttered yet very detailed. It welcomes the guest to navigate through the various pages with ease. In addition, the set up of the website is one which makes its maintenance very user friendly and which enables us to effect changes to the appearance, content, photos, and any other details quite easily, even without any prior knowledge of web development or software skills.”

PaintballMalta.com launched
What is Paintballmalta.com?
Paintballmalta.com is the online home of Malta’s number 1 paintball park in Rinella, owned and operated by S.P.E.A.R. Games Ltd. The paintball park attracts hundreds of players every year, stopping for a short break in the summer months due to the unforgiving heat that hits the Maltese islands during that time. Having been established for more than 10 years, the paintball park is renowned for its professional staff and exciting playing field together with top of the range paintball equipment.
Why was the website needed?
Through the new website the general public will have the opportunity to learn more about the game of paintball and how it is played in Malta at the S.P.E.A.R. Games paintball park. Users can enquire for availability of the park online and also have other questions answered via email. Another important section is the ‘Location’ page which includes a Google-powered map via which users can trace the exact location of the paintball park, thus eliminating any guess work and making it easier for new players to find the park. Users visiting the website can also get a glimpse of what a paintball game looks like by viewing the numerous images available on the ‘Gallery’ page, which uses the latest ‘lightbox’ effect that eliminates the need to open a new browser window for each image that is clicked on.
